This Thanksgiving, Everlight Solar partnered with BrainPower in a Backpack to host a food drive for their hunger relief project. This organization is a volunteer project of District 191 Community Education and Burnsville High School. BHS students pack weekend food for preschool, elementary, middle, and high school students whose families struggle to put enough food on the table. Brainpower in a Backpack provides approximately 700 students with a bag of food each WEEK – enough for at least four meals and two snacks!
Several Everlight staff members made a Costco trip on the hunt to find sought-after food items. This was an extremely successful mission, donating thousands of pounds of food and goods to BrainPower.
Because academic performance is related to nutrition, BrainPower’s goal is to improve the student learning experience for children with the greatest need in ISD 191.
Here are some items that were needed:
- Breakfast bars
- Shelf-safe meat sticks
- Crackers
- Trail mix
- Oatmeal
- Individually wrapped snack packs
Thank you to all who helped and gave to our food drive. BrainPower in a Backpack is still accepting in-person and online donations.
