Each year, Everlight Solar awards $5,000 Clean Energy Scholarships to students dedicated to renewable energy, sustainability, and climate solutions.
We were impressed by the passion and innovation shown in this year’s applications from University of Wisconsin–Madison students! Choosing just two finalists was no easy task, and we sincerely appreciate every applicant working toward a more sustainable future.
University of Wisconsin–Madison | Madison, Wisconsin
This year’s Everlight Solar Clean Energy Scholarship recipient is Niamh Prentiss. An Environmental Engineering major earning a Certificate in Engineering for Energy Sustainability at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, her academic focus centers on designing energy-efficient lighting solutions that reduce light pollution while protecting both natural ecosystems and human health.

Our runner-up, Darby Martinez, is also making meaningful contributions through studies and initiatives that support a more sustainable future. With an Agricultural and Applied Economics major with an emphasis in Environmental Economics, Darby measures success by the positive environmental impact of her work. She has served as a Renewable Energy Intern with UW Extension’s RESET program, helping bridge communication between communities and large-scale solar developers.
