Each year, Everlight Solar proudly invests in the future of renewable energy by awarding a $5,000 Clean Energy Scholarship to outstanding students pursuing careers focused on sustainability, climate solutions, and clean technology.
This year, we were honored to host our Clean Energy Game in partnership with the University of Minnesota. The energy, innovation, and passion displayed by applicants made this year’s selection process incredibly competitive.

2026 University of Minnesota Clean Energy Scholarship Recipients
After reviewing an impressive group of applicants committed to advancing renewable energy and environmental responsibility, we are excited to recognize this year’s top students:
The Everlight Solar Clean Energy Scholarship winner for the University of Minnesota this year is Lidya Kennedy! Lidya is a junior in the College of Design, majoring in landscape architecture. A pivotal moment that shaped her passion for conservation was a 2022 trip to Ethiopia, where she observed the connection between poverty and a lack of environmental stewardship. Last year, she participated in the Clean Energy Leaders program, conducting a paid research study on tree equity in Minneapolis.
Mauren Pierson was our second-place winner. A freshman majoring in Environmental Science, Policy, and Resource Management, she grew up in Duluth along Lake Superior. Growing up surrounded by nature shaped her perspective and inspired her to pursue sustainability. In high school, she became involved in a climate club and eventually stepped into a leadership role, where collaborating with peers to create positive change solidified her commitment to protecting the planet every day.
We look forward to highlighting their academic focus, campus involvement, and commitment to clean energy innovation following the official announcement.
